ITINERARY

DAY 1: ARRIVE LONDON, ENGLAND

Arrive in London, where you are met and transferred to your hotel in the center of the city. Tonight, gather for a welcome briefing followed by dinner with your fellow travellers.

DAY 2: LONDON | SEATS OF POWER

This morning, cruise the River Thames aboard a historic canal barge, passing under the iconic span of Tower Bridge. Next, walk the halls of England’s democracy in the Houses of Parliament. Pause for afternoon tea on the terraces overlooking the Thames. After a short stroll through St. James Park, gain access to the State Apartments of Buckingham Palace during HRH The Queen’s annual summer opening. Return to the hotel for a relaxing evening at leisure.

DAY 3: BUCKINGHAMSHIRE | ROTHSCHILD’S GLORIES

Depart London this morning for a private tour of Waddesdon Manor. Commissioned by the Baron de Rothschild, this iconic manor house was inspired by the French châteaux of the Renaissance period. After an exploration of the manor’s private quarters, descend to the Baron’s original wine cellars to taste a selection of Rothschild wines, followed by lunch. Afterward, continue to your hotel in the picturesque Oxfordshire countryside.

DAY 4: OXFORD | TOWN AND GOWN

This morning, visit Kingston Bagpuize House, a filming location for the television show Downton Abbey. Following a private tour with the owner, enjoy morning refreshments in one of the home’s atmospheric rooms. Next, travel to Oxford, where a local expert reveals this “city of dreaming spires.” See how the hallowed halls of Oxford University are woven into the fabric of the town. Enjoy time at leisure for your own explorations.

DAY 5: BLENHEIM PALACE | HOME OF A LEGENDARY STATESMAN

Today, visit stunning Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and home to over 300 years of British history. Tour the palace’s gilded state rooms and their priceless collections of portraits, tapestries and furniture. By arrangement with the Duke’s private butler, access apartments usually closed to the public. Enjoy lunch at the estate and explore the extensive grounds at your leisure. Continue through the beautiful Cotswolds region to the charming village of Broadway, where you stay in a historic coaching inn that has been transformed into a cozy luxury retreat.

DAY 6: THE COTSWOLDS | SUDELEY CASTLE

This morning, arrive at Sudeley Castle, a property closely associated with the turbulent Tudor dynasty. Queen Katherine Parr, the last of King Henry VIII’s six wives, lived and died here. The castle also marks her final resting place, making it the only private castle in England to have a queen buried within the grounds. Enjoy a private tour with a local expert, pausing for lunch and then exploring the castle’s ten award-winning gardens. Return to Broadway for a relaxing evening at leisure.

DAY 7: THE COTSWOLDS | BADMINTON HOUSE

Drive to Badminton House, home of the Dukes of Beaufort and only accessible by invitation. Privately tour the 17th-century home, walking in the footsteps of former guests such as Charles II, William of Orange and Mary of Teck. After a stroll of the estate’s extensive stables complex, enjoy lunch on the grounds. Later, arrive at your hotel in the Hampshire countryside with time to enjoy the property and its amenities.
